OSS = Open Source Software
FOSS = Free/Open Source Software
FLOSS = Free/Libre/Open Source Software
(Libre as in the French pronunciation and meaning)

So, yes, you're missing something.  Even the /. crowd has been using the 
terms FOSS and FLOSS (or F/LOSS) for over a year.
