For official Debian packages, a 'C' (capital letter c) will grab the
changelog of the package version that aptitude thinks is newest and show
it to you.  Not quite what you are looking for, but if you are hestitant
to upgrade gratuitously, it helps you decide what is a worthwhile
update.  Another handy tool is apt-listbugs, which queries the BTS for
bugs that are open against the package and show them to you.  However, I
don't think that it integrates well, or even at all, with aptitude.
