Easy way to find right module [was Re: Pinnacle PCTV 50e USB capture device [solved]]

Does anyone know of a good/easy way to find what module is needed for a
particular device without having to scour the Internet? I remember
something about putting the id, given out by lspci, into a web page and
getting it that way. I realise it is the chipset that determines what
module is needed and that similar devices can have different chipsets.
I'm guessing the answer will be "you have to google it" :-(
