it doesn't specify which distro/version of linux though - theres only a few
hundred out there if not more.

No such version exists.

No, they simply don't understand the difference between Debian (an
OS distribution, for which there is no version 2.4.3) and Linux
(an OS kernel, for which there is a version 2.4.3).
