Hi Kevin,

I only use cdrecord and growisofs from the command line.  No other tools
are involved.  As far as hdparm in an init script, it is already run by
/etc/rcS.d/S07hdparm.  However, the uptime on this system is generally
in the months, so it is not like it is a frequent occurence.  I thought
about a cron job set to run @daily, but that is sort of ugly.  Also,
there is no dual-booting on this box, so it is not a Windows issue.  I
will if there is a way I can showhorn inotify into what I need.
