You'll have to tail your logs to see what happens as you put the card
in. There are several types. Some are a straight forward serial port
with an "AT Modem" on, others make usb devices with the modem(s) on them
(I think it uses the usbserial module), and then there are others that
need a separate driver.
What exactly you have to do to make the hardware work depends greately
on the brand and model card. I have had good experiences with the
Option NZ card (uses the nozomi driver - www.pharscape.org) and one of
the Vodafone cards.
