initramfs/mdadm question

Running etch --
Often lately, when upgrading, I'm getting a warning from update-initramfs like the following:

Installing new version of config file /etc/init.d/udev ...
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.16-2-amd64-k8-smp
I: mdadm: RAID support installed to mount /dev/md0, during boot.
I: mdadm: use `dpkg-reconfigure -plow mdadm` to change this.

Since my / and /boot are on raid, it seems to me I would want to have
raid support during boot. So why would I want to change this? Is
this warning a directive or superfluous? I googled around for this
and didn't find anything. I saw something possibly related go by in
the list the other day, but didn't catch the resolution.
Clarification would be appreciated. Thanks.

Don
