Did you mean that you realized that you've given the wrong font name? Then
give it the right one, like this:

 aterm -fn "-microsoft-comic sans ms-medium-r-normal-*-12-*-*-*-*-*-*-*"

I don't have aterm, but the following works for me:

 rxvt -fn "-microsoft-comic sans ms-medium-r-normal-*-12-*-*-*-*-*-*-*"
