Sheesh one can't win. Flash is a moving target these days, as a lot of functionality is being built in to move it from just an animation package to something more dynamic. Since this all started with Flash Player 8 (which was a major rewrite) and 9 is just around the corner, the decision was made to go straight to 9 for Linux.
