dpkg-repack warnings: what effect?
Hi,
dpkg-repack (from sid dpkg 1.13.22) gives warnings when repacking python
packages:
...
warning, `./dpkg-repack-5343/DEBIAN/control' contains user-defined field
`Python-Version'
...
What effect does this have? Can the .deb be used or not?
Would it be true to say that only those .debs cannot be used where there
are warnings that the package may be broken? Like:
...
cp: cannot create regular file `./dpkg-repack-15399//etc/pam.d/cupsys':
No such file or directory
dpkg-repack: Error running: cp -pd /etc/pam.d/cupsys
./dpkg-repack-15399//etc/pam.d/cupsys
tar: -: file name read contains nul character
dpkg-repack: Problems were encountered in processing.
dpkg-repack: The package may be broken.
dpkg-deb: building package `cupsys' in `./cupsys_1.2.1-3_i386.deb'.
...
And *all* uses of dpkg-repack have that "file name read contains nul
character" now.
Anybody using dpkg-repack in recent sid?
Thanks!
H
