Re: [OT] How do I make my computer act like a telephone?

Why not just use Skype which lets you call any landline or cellphone over the internet (needs a high speed broadband internet connection to work properly though)?

Hello list. This is rather not Debian related, but I simply can't find the correct forum. If this can be suplied, I'd be grateful.

Now then: I want to make my computer act like a telephone: Literaly, plug in the telephone wire to a jack and dial (and receive) a phone call. I _believe_ I've got the driver installed for my modem which I'm _pretty_sure_ is capable of this. (The modem is an ATI IXP AC'97 Modem according to KInfoCentre, in case some one can verify that this is indeed a telephony-capable modem).  The question: What software do I need and how do I set it up? (The latter can be answered by way of a howto or the like).

Thanks much and I appologise for the broadness of this querie.

Cheers.
