Does anyone please know what updates would be needed
to the current kernel in order to use the Athlon 64 ?
I would obviously like to still use all my current 32
bit software and data.
Hi Mike,
there is a debian-amd64 port. so 99% of what you want will work.
BUT THERE ARE EXCEPTION that have not made the jump to 64bit and need to
be run in a 32bit chroot.
here are a few:
win32codecs-any multimedia apps that use this will not work in 64 bits
OpenOffice is still not 64bit.
there may be others. ask here or on the amd 64 port site
http://alioth.debian.org/docman/view.php/30192/21/debian-amd64-howto.html
would be good to read.
cheers,
