I got a .wps file which was created with M$ Works. OOo, kword and abiword are
all failing to open it. Does anybody know another tool to open it?

Ooops, if Abiword  fails...
There's a tool released by M$ to convert .wps file into .doc/.xls.

Have you also tried with OO?
