How do you enter a Euro symbol ....

Well, install scim package. Then you can enter any charactes with
English 102 key board.
 * Euro, pound, ....
 * Japanes characters
 * Chinese characters
 * Korean characters
 * All fanky accented characters in Freanch, Czec, Norwagian,
 * All Russian, Arabic, Indic, greek,....

It works here.
