Isn't not just install "lm-sensors", you also need the modules of  
i2c-xxx and lmxx modules. The lmxx modules you need are according to 
your chip. In other words you need read carefully the documentation of 
the lm-sensors home pages.
But the lm-sensors is not the only way, if you are using ACPI in you 
Debian you just can read the Temperature file from ACPI process directory:
> more /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/temperature
