Check that the permissions for the device files are the same
(probably /dev/cdrom[0-9] is not writeable by group cdrom).

This is a bug in the package,
edit /usr/share/applnk/Settings/System/k3bsetup2.desktop and remove
the "NoDisplay=true" line
