How to get out of this error. I did apt-get -f install. that also didn't help.


What happened with this? I just saw it today (been awhile since an
upgrade) and now I'm stuck.

Which version of libxft-dev do you have installed? I have 2.1.8.2-5.1
and this version coexists peacefully with x11-common 6.9.0.dfsg.1-6.
There is a related bug, classified as "resolved":

Xorg seems to be a bit touchy at the moment, probably a side-effect of
the reorganization which was necessary for the modularized version 7.0
(already in experimental). You might have to --force your way through
the upgrade.
