X Problem with Etch

I've just installed Etch and I can't get X up.  Under Sarge I used VESA for my driver and that worked fine.  The Etch installer doesn't seem to give me a choice.

 

I changed /etc/X11/xorg.conf by hand to vesa but X will not recognize this.

 

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
