I am embarrassed to admit that many times my cli is sitting in the very
directory I'm trying to umount.

for example.

andrew@basement:~$ mount
[...]
/dev/hdb7 on /home type ext3 (rw)
[...]
andrew@basement:~$ sudo umount /home
Password:
umount: /home: device is busy
umount: /home: device is busy

Its happened more than once. :)
