Re: Any way to play AAC streams?

Hello,

I was Googling for this problem, having gotten fed up with XMMS's utter inadequacy in handling xmms streams, and ran across your posts.

It's likely not a Debian problem; I'm running Fedora Core 4 x86_64 and the same problem (ad nauseum, indeed!) is afflicting my XMMS. I tried disabling both the MP3 Placeholder and MP3 Player plugins, but that only succeeded in making the streams I was trying to play loop infinitely.

In any case, I thought you might be interested in the following list.

and if that wraps,

"amaroK" stared at me when I asked it to play an aacPlus stream; "bmp" has been deprecated to BMPx or some such thing, and has a Debian binary (no FC4, so I haven't tried it as at 3 in the morning I don't have the patience to dink with it); LAMIP looks promising, but again, a nightmare of compilations. I'm working on installing "gmerlin" right now, will let you know how that goes, if not tonight, then tomorrow.

Let me know if that helps!

Be well,
Michael Phillips
