Is this a kernel bug?

First, please don't hijack other threads. Start a new one.

Second, what version of gcc are you using?

Sorry, my bad.

This question should be easy, but I am not entirely sure.
Just "gcc --version" reports:

gcc (GCC) 4.0.3 20060212 (prerelease) (Debian 4.0.2-9)

But "dpkg --list | grep gcc" indicates I have still an older version on my system: ii gcc 4.0.2-2 The GNU C compiler ii gcc-3.3 3.3.6-10 The GNU C compiler ii gcc-3.3-base 3.3.6-10 The GNU Compiler Collection (base package) ii gcc-4.0 4.0.2-9 The GNU C compiler ii gcc-4.0-base 4.0.2-9 The GNU Compiler Collection (base package) ii libgcc1 4.0.2-9 GCC support library

I assume make-kpkg picks the standard (the newer) version. Am I mistaken?
