The install program tries to read the cdrom and returns screen dumps of "hda media error (bad sector) Drive Ready Seek Complete Error, Buffer I/O error error=0x34 status=0x51". Is this a cdrom package or install package? At first I didn't even know what was meant by "package". Tis is to let you know my limited knowledge about debian. Thank you for your help.

Looks to me like a bad CD, that is if your CD-ROM drive is the primary master. If this is the case then check the downloaded .iso (ex. with winmd5) and compare the checksum with those listed on the net, burn it again (maybe using slower speed) and use the "check written data" (or whatever it is called) option in your burning software (Nero has this).
