Problem with Compact Flash card in Sid
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Up to date Sid, 2.6.15 kernel.
When I insert a Compact Flash memory card in the PCMCIA slot, I get
the pasted messages in the /var/log/kern.log. The problem is that the
hde: hde1 message repeats endlessly, the CPU is pegged, and top
reports "Cpu: 50% hi" whatever that is.
When I manually reject the card, about 5 seconds later the kernel
panics and locks up.

There is one more message in the kern.log during boot that might have
some impact:
=============
Jan 21 17:14:50 dierdre kernel: pcmcia: Detected deprecated PCMCIA
ioctl usage.
Jan 21 17:14:50 dierdre kernel: pcmcia: This interface will soon be
removed from the kernel; please expect breakage unle
ss you upgrade to new tools.

details.
=============
Unfortunately, I don't know where to find the kernel panic messages,
if they are kept as well as displayed, but I guess I could try to
repeat this failure again and take a picture of the screen...
Inserting a compact flash card like this has worked perfectly since
2000, but I guess I get what I get running Sid. Any ideas?
