I think it's configured in /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc - something like ServerArgs
or ServerCmd. That's from memory, though (not running kdm/KDE here).
In case that should be wrong, try "grep -r -e -br /etc/kde3" to locate
other likely candidates...
