Oh Dear,
I really thought, that after days of effort, I was home and dry. My
children got really excited about Rosegarden and the possibility of
playing music along with it.
Not only did I get RG4 playing sound, but also Noteedit. Surely this
establishes that my HW is OK and that I have whatever modules and
software needed ?
This is really rather embarrassing. I power cycled the machine and
now I can no longer get sound out of Rosengarden, or anything else.
Timidity works fine and I load it as a server:
timidity -iA &

My hours and hours of googling lead me to believe that I must load a soundfont:
asfxload kawaistereogrand.sf2
No Emux synth hwdep device is found
When I google for this last error message I get nowhere.
I have this same sf2 file featured in /etc/timidity/timidity.cfg.
Frustrated and very confused.
Thanks a lot.
Joe
