Often Yahoo will change their protocol slightly, thereby breaking
non-Yahoo clients. The typical solution for most people is to wait a few
days until the gaim people have a new version that fixes the break, and
then download and use the new version.

I can't say if that's the problem here, but I suspect it is. I seldom
use gaim, but I just fired it up to test it, and mine also fails to connect.
