Autofs question
I'm doing some autofs research for a server I have... so I'm running it
on a backup server right now, and I have two questions for those who
might know.
1) Currently I have a directory, with a handful of mounts under it at
different levels... i.e.
/mnt/share1
/mnt/Chicago/share2
/mnt/Chicago/share3
/mnt/share4
So, in my auto.master I put
/mnt /etc/auto.mnt --timeout=3600
And then in my auto.mnt I put
share1 blahblahblah
share4 blahblahblah
and that's good, but I don't seem to be able to put
Chicago/share2 blahblahblah
Chicago/share3 blahblahblah
Is that just not something autofs supports? Do I need to make a new
auto.X file for each directory which contains shares? This seems to be
the case from the examples I can find, but I'm not finding a 100% clear
answer in the docs, so I figured it's worth asking.
2) Is there any reason I want to avoid autofs on a server, I want to be
sure I'm not walking into a hornet's nest and creating 2 dozen problems
in order to fix the 1 I'm having.
Thanks,
Rob
