That's what I do usually (2.6.11 is already installed, just some minutes
ago...)

I disagree with this one. I, for myself, have trouble with my external
USB hard disk (Archos jukebox), from 2.4.20 on up to now. Going back
won't help anything, but I still have hope that future kernels will work
with it.
