If your mouse is jumping around, it is likely because you're using the wrong
driver. When that happens, data from your mouse can be interpreted wrong,
and simple movement could be interpreted as mouse clicks or scroll wheel
events. Is KDE set up to switch desktops on a scroll wheel event when the
mouse is over the desktop or pager? That would be my first guess.

Try reconfiguring your mouse, and see if that helps.
