mkisofs can't handle files > 2GB?

I run through this, while trying to burn a 4.2 GB file to a dvd media. K3b log has this line, which seems to be the culprit:

/usr/bin/mkisofs: Value too large for defined data type. File /backup/hda2/movie-640x480-1800kbps-pal-m-30fps-deint_ci-00:12-24-10-2005.avi is too large - ignoring

K3b says it will enable udf packet writing, so files > 2GB can be accessed, but no go. The writing aborts halfway to the end, though k3b reports 'sucess'. The media has burn mark only to the middle of the recordable surface.

Google shows me threads about this, but they are quite outdated. I hesitate to believe it wasn't fixed yet. It's like more than one year.
Does anybody know?
Thanks!

mkisofs is version 2.1-unofficial-iconv

(listed in k3b, explicitly says 'support to udf')

cdrecord is 2.1.1a01
