I can't recall the exact detail but during the install you're asked
whether to use the H/W clock for determining the time.  If you answer
yes it can lead to conflicts on multi-boot systems.  I now always answer
'no' and booting between XP and other linux systems on the box doesn't
screw up the time.

rerun base-config to reset
