The above commands are sufficient. You might also consider installing apt-listbugs, apt-listchanges.Hi list. I have been using debian/testing for a year long. I would like to have the leatest software (eg. latest kde). Therefore, I want to update to unstable. I read somewhere that unstable is as stable as any other distributions (latest suse) I know I have to do: edit source.list aptitude upgrade aptitude dist-upgrade
IMHO, Sid is in pretty bad shape right now with all the KDE transition, C++ ABI transition, gcc4 transition. I would not move from testing to sid at the present moment unless you are ready to face some hiccups on the way.
