where is setting to change resolution ??

thanks
Try removing the "DPMS" option on your monitor... otherwise your
config is correct to default to 1024x768

tried that -still doesnt work. here is a lspci list. 0000:00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corp. 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 01) (prog-if 00 [VGA])

would the i810 driver be better than vesa?
also if i ctrl+alt+f? out of X when I try to go back all there is is a blank screen? in kinfo- shows the xserver in a 800x600 default res. where does it source this info?

thanks again

I'd give that driver a shot, certainly can't hurt to try... it's what I'm using. I'm no expert, so perhaps someone with more experience can chime in here!

Good Luck
