Go to /etc/X11 and see if you have xorg.conf or XF86Config. If you have
xorg.conf, then you are definitely using xorg otherwise you might be
using XF86Config.
For a more definitive answer try
$dpkg -l xserver\*
If you get something like,
ii xserver-xorg 6.8.2.dfsg.1-5 the X.Org X server
then you are using xorg. If there are lines like
ii xserver-xfree8 4.3.0.dfsg.1-1 the XFree86 X server
then you are using XFree86.
