I cannot comment your specific problem but I'd like to mention that the
mozilla.org people strongly discourage the use of "tabbrowser
extensions". I have used it a lot, too, but switched to "tabbrowser
prefernces" and other smaller extensions (undoclosetab comes to mind)
instead. I had various random bugs with TE and all of them disappeared
after removing it.
