Assuming you're running sarge,
# dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
It's helpful to have the monitor specs handy to select the correct values.
I have the same card working well on a 19" monitor at 1600x1200 using
either the nv driver or the nvidia driver under sarge.
