Commonly this problem is if you haven't glx enabled with direct rendering enabled:
' glxinfo |grep "direct rendering" ' and see if there is yes or no.
But there are other methods in order to get full screen, just use another video out, like sdl: mplayer -vo sdl -fs <movie>, but this methods require more resources that
the used when Direct Rendering is enabled.
