Hi Robert,
you need to read about the way packages are produced for Debian. I think
that is in the Debian policy manual. Basically, source trees have a
/debian directory that is used with something like pbuilder(a debian
tool) to create a .deb. You need to read about 'sponsorship' of a
package upload and how to make an ITP(intent to package) on the
debian-devel list. Roberto Sanchez (on this list) will know ALL about
this as he already has done this!
