Hmmm, I get this:
ams-it:/home/mark# lvmdiskscan
  /dev/hda1 [        1.40 GB]
  /dev/sda1 [       15.30 MB]
  /dev/hda2 [       18.63 GB]
  /dev/hda3 [       91.74 GB] LVM physical volume
  /dev/hdb1 [      186.31 GB]
  0 disks
  4 partitions
  0 LVM physical volume whole disks
  1 LVM physical volume

Again, /dev/hdb1 is not marked as being a LVM type disk...

Now that is exactly the question I had, because of this i'm getting
really scared of doing a dist-upgrade on the rest of my servers as
well... ;-(

Oh boy, I really hope I can restore the partition table...
