Now, how to override the normal ifupdown configuration: create /etc/init.d/my_localhost with these 2 lines #!/bin/sh ifconfig lo 127.0.0.1 up then chmod 755 /etc/init.d/my_localhost ln -s /etc/init.d/my_localhost /etc/rcS.d/S38my_localhost This script will be executed on boot, just before ifupdown (S39) is executed.
