Uhm, I don't really get your problem. Dyndns.org IS CHEAP, in fact it's free...:-) I have several of their free domains registered and in use for about 1 1/2 year now without a problem.

If you're looking for a DNS registrar to have a domain without the fixed extension of dyndns, and have someone host it for you at a cheap rate, you might want to look at http://register.webreseller.net/ They offer most domains for $9.95 dns hosting included. I don't have any experience with them tho. Someone else on this list might however.
