RE: dpkg produces Segmentation Fault

If it is not bad memory, it be a bad glibc (if it is corrupted), either
one can cause errors such as these. I would check the ram first
(www.memtest86.com).

Subject: dpkg produces Segmentation Fault

dpkg has been throwing segmentation faults when trying to install .deb
files and using apt-get. The last upgrade I did to my system was a
kernel upgrade, and it hasn't been working since that, however, I don't
know if it's related. When trying to install a kernel module, I have
been getting a segmentation fault, and it seems to not work across the
board. When using apt-get, I recieve a segementation fault immediately
after downloading the packages.

Installing Kernel module: -------

phrstbrn@zakdebian:/usr/src$ sudo dpkg -i
alsa-modules-2.6.11-1-386_1.0.8-7+1_i386.deb
Password:

Unpacking replacement alsa-modules-2.6.11-1-386 ...

Any ideas?
