Hello everybody,

get the following message: *"ssh_exchange_identification: Connection

I've been searching on the Web and SSH documentation and I've tried
turning off the firewall and adding sshd: ALL in the hosts.allow file,
but it doesn't work.

I'll appreciate any comments.

Thanks.

Victor,

It should work out of the box, as mine does. Look in /var/log/auth.log
for errors.

Have you looked at, or changed, /etc/ssh/sshd_config ? You could also
crank up the debugging in sshd. See man sshd_config .

This is about the limit of my expertise. Good Luck!

Ralph

Thanks Ralph, looking in /var/log/auth.log was helpful:

Apr 11 19:59:13 localhost sshd[4295]: warning: /etc/hosts.allow, line 12: missing newline or line too long Apr 11 19:59:13 localhost sshd[4295]: refused connect from 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1)

The first line adviced me to look again at hosts.allow file. It seems that Kate editor had erased the end of lines, and that was the problem.

Thanks again.

Víctor
