Just download either CD1 or just a netinst version (140 MB).
These contain most essential packages and allow you to get more
packages later via the network. This way you only download what you
use and not lots of stuff you won't be needing.

If you have a bit more bandwith to spare get cd1 and cd2, maybe cd3, I
don't recommend getting more then this, those later cd's contain very
obscure packages you most likely will not need.
