loading SCSI modules into 2.4.29 kernel

Hello,

I'm trying to use kernel 2.4.29 with sarge on a new IBM xSeries server... I am working with kernel 2.4.29 because it seems to be the only kernel that I have found (patched by somebody at http://wiki.osuosl.org/display/LNX/Debian+on+Dell+Servers?focusedCommentId=3432&decorator=printable) to support the Adaptec hardware HostRaid that ships with the mother board. I have not been able to find any support for the HostRaid in any 2.6.x kernel versions.

The RAID works great.

The problem now is that I have added a SCSI controller card (lspci -v gives me this output for the card):

0000:03:01.0 SCSI storage controller: Adaptec ASC-29320ALP U320 (rev 10)
       Subsystem: Adaptec: Unknown device 0044
Flags: bus master, 66MHz, slow devsel, latency 72, IRQ 24
       I/O ports at 3400 [disabled] [size=256]
       Memory at d0200000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]
       I/O ports at 3000 [disabled] [size=256]
Expansion ROM at <unassigned> [disabled] [size=512K]
Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [a0] Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bit+ Queue=0/1 Enable-
       Capabilities: [94] PCI-X non-bridge device.

And I cannot seem to access this card. I am trying to attach an Exabyte Packet Loader to the card for tape backup.

Any ideas how I can get the 2.4.29 kernel to access the Packet Loader via my SCSI card? Someone suggested I try to load modules 79xx at boot by adding that to /etc/modules, but that doesn't seem to help.

Thanks,
Jon
