You can also set a treshold value so chrony won't slew the time but
step it to the correct value.
If the time is off by more then 30 seconds step it, otherwise slew it slowly.

Use this in /etc/chrony/chrony.conf:
initstepslew 30 ntpservers
where ntpservers correspond to the server directives.
