NVIDIA kernel and X problems

Hi, 
X server fails to start after upgrading my system (unstable) 

X and NVIDIA has always worked fine, i've installed the NVIDIA kernel
module with 'module-assistant'. 

Now when i start gdm this is what it says: 
Error: API Mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module is version 7.1.0, but this
X module is version 1.0.7167. Please be sure that your kernel module and
all NVIDIA driver files have the same driver version. 
(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA kernel module! 
(EE) NVIDIA(0): *** Aborting *** 
(II) UnloadModule: "nvidia" 
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. 

I'm using the 2.6.8 kernel 

$dpkg -l nvidia-glx 
ii nvidia-glx 1.0.7167-1 NVIDIA binary XFree86 4.x driver 

$dpkg -l nvidia-kernel-source 
ii nvidia-kernel-source 1.0.7167-1 NVIDIA binary kernel module source

Any ideas?
