In that manual there is a section on 'Completing'. Type '/Completing'
and you should arrive there. Lots of info there. More than I can
learn in one evening. :)

In 'man bash-builtins' there is also info. You may see some good info
under 'complete'. (Type 'man bash<TAB><TAB>' ;-)) 

BTW, I often use <CTRL>I instead of <TAB>. It does the same thing.
