You might want to try that: http://www.nl.debian.org/distrib/netinst It gives you a minimal Debian system from which you can install the rest. All those cds you burned can still be of good use. After you have that minimal system running you can add the cds with the command 'apt-cdrom'. Debian will then know that it doesn't have to fetch all the files from the Internet; it will just ask you to put a specific cd in the drive when it needs to.
