You also might want to take a look at hotway. It's a POP3-to-HTTPmail
gateway that lets you check your hotmail as though it were a local POP3
account.

alex@Balrog:~$ wajig show hotway |sed -n '/^Description/,$p'
Description: pop3 to Hotmail (HTTPmail) gateway
Hotway acts like a pop3 server, but actually goes to an HTTPmail
server (like Hotmail.com, msn.com, etc) to retrieve requested mail.
 .
Hotway also supports the HTTPmail services provided by lycos.co.uk,
 lycos.ch, lycos.de, lycos.es, lycos.it, lycos.at, lycos.nl, and
 spray.se.
